Announcements

VITL announced today that Beth Anderson is stepping down as President & Chief Executive Officer, effective July 25, 2025.

In a statement from Ms. Anderson, she said: “It has been my honor to lead the team at VITL in sharing essential health data on behalf of Vermonters and their health care providers. From the beginning, the promise was clear – secure exchange of health data is necessary for more effective, equitable, and efficient health care. The VITL team has proven the value of health data sharing again and again, through our service to public health during the pandemic, and continuing through the challenges facing health care providers in Vermont today. Providers use the data our team collects, matches, standardizes, and shares every day to make more informed care decisions and coordinate care across settings, support better health outcomes and help patients avoid the cost of duplicate tests and procedures. VITL data also helps guide public health interventions that help keep us all healthy and well. I’m proud of the work VITL does for Vermont patients and providers, and I am looking forward to seeing the team’s contributions continue to support the delivery of quality health care in Vermont.”

Anderson joined VITL in 2019, and led VITL during a time when the organization’s achievements included:

  • Embedding access to VITL’s unified patient records into the daily work of Vermont’s health care providers; more than doubling use of VITL’s records by doctors, nurses, care coordinators, EMTs, and the many other health care professionals who care for Vermonters.
  • Expanding the data available through VITL, adding data from pharmacies, labs, behavioral health providers, and other members of Vermonters’ care teams, to provide a more comprehensive picture of each individual’s health
  • Expanding the ways VITL serves Vermont’s Medicaid program, developing new and more efficient ways to deliver clinical data.
  • Building a strong relationship with the Vermont Department of Health, beginning by delivering essential data for pandemic response, and expanding into a partnership that is nationally recognized as a model for how advanced health information exchange can serve public health.

VITL Board Chair Emma Harrigan said: “Under Beth’s strategic, steady leadership VITL has become an indispensable partner to heath care providers and everyone working to build a more connected, effective, and affordable system of care for Vermonters. The Board thanks Beth for her service.”

VITL CFO Cara Callanan will serve as interim President & CEO while the Board of Directors conducts a search for a permanent replacement. Information on the search will be available on VITL’s website at vitl.net/careers.
