Clinical Education Lead

The Clinical Education Lead collaborates closely with the Director of Client Engagement to develop and maintain a clinical education roadmap, and to implement strategies for onboarding, education, and expanding use of VITL’s services. Their work will help providers utilize VITL’s services to their fullest and advance understanding of the value of the health information exchange in the provider community.

Principal Responsibilities:

Clinical Expertise & Engagement

  • Serve as VITL’s primary clinical subject matter expert and resource in a variety of capacities, including in client engagement conversations, project planning and product/service release discussions, and communication and outreach activities.
  • Promote the use of the health information exchange in delivering quality patient care outcomes and in facilitating effective and efficient provider workflows and decision-making.
  • Continuously research innovative ways to work with clinicians and organizations throughout the state in the adoption of VITL’s products and services; develop strategies and practical solutions.

Content Development and Communication

  • Brainstorm new provider education strategies and improve existing education and communication strategies targeting existing and potential provider end users of VITL’s services.
  • Proactively plan for the development and implementation of new education and communication opportunities by developing a Clinical Education Roadmap of all related activities such as webinars, conference presentations, medical staff meetings, grand rounds, and more.
  • Lead the design and execution of specific content for communication and education materials and collateral, as it relates to the use and understanding of VITL’s services from a clinical end-user perspective.
  • Review, provide feedback, and approve communication materials and collateral prior to their release to clinician end users, working with other Engagement Team members on production and with individual end users to receive additional validation, evaluation, and acceptance of materials as necessary.

Education and Training

  • Develop educational policies and procedures describing standard content and materials, as well common clinical workflows to highlight, to be used by Engagement Team members and other VITL staff in the presentation and training of VITL’s services to end users.
  • Proactively assess and plan education programming to address needs of new and existing end users in a variety of clinical settings and advance use and understanding of VITL’s services (e.g., VITLAccess, analytics and reporting)
  • Motivate and educate VITL’s clinical end users in the use and understanding of available services, incorporating knowledge of evidence-based practices to demonstrate how use of VITL’s services can promote positive patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a go-to resource to VITL’s clinical end-user community for knowledge of VITL services and health data sharing generally.
  • Be willing to travel on-site to visit or connect virtually with VITL’s end users to provide training, answer questions, gather feedback, and evaluate workflows.
  • Develop and implement a CEU strategy for VITL’s education offerings
  • Provide educational presentations at conferences to support adoption and promotion of services, as needed.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships to coordinate and support effective and efficient education and training plans across all client organizations.

User Adoption, Engagement, and Satisfaction

  • Participate with the Product Manager and Support Team members on work to monitor new and existing user adoption and utilization of VITL services, and user satisfaction.
  • Help develop mechanisms for better understanding provider needs, satisfaction with VITL services, and opportunities for VITL capabilities to meet provider needs, whether through different/expanded use of current services or new offerings. Mechanisms might include surveys, interviews, focus groups, clinical advisor or ambassador programming, and more.

Project Support

  • Work closely with the Director of Client Engagement, the Product Manager, and other teams at VITL in the development and procurement of new opportunities as needed.
  • Lead the education and training component of projects by partnering with Project Managers to ensure that the appropriate steps are taken and managed within defined project plans and schedules.
  • Support organization-wide process improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee special projects relating to clinical use and implementation of services.

Freedom To Act/Accountability
The Clinical Education Lead is expected to successfully work with minimal supervision, either independently or as part of a team. Working within department and VITL guidelines, this position will have a broad knowledge of VITL’s services and the organization’s strategic and business needs and have the ability to provide leadership in support of VITL projects.

The Clinical Education Lead may perform other tasks as necessary to support VITL organization goals, as guided by their manager.

Working Relationships/Contacts
The Clinical Education Lead will work collaboratively with all levels of VITL technical and administrative staff and leadership, as well as consultants and vendors. They will work extensively with providers and with clinical and administrative leaders at client organizations.

Job Requirements:
The following guidelines for minimum qualifications are to assist with the hiring process.

Education          

  • Clinical degree or license required

Experience

  • At least five years’ experience working in or closely with hospitals, health centers, primary or specialty care practices, and/or other healthcare settings
  • Leadership experience overseeing programs or services strongly preferred
  • Experience providing training and/or education to clinicians in healthcare settings strongly preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record systems strongly preferred
  • Experience with health care quality measurement and quality improvement desirable
  • Experience with health care reporting and regulatory requirements desirable
  • Strong skills in documentation and use of Microsoft Office required

Other Requirements
This role will involve travel to health care organizations and events throughout Vermont up to 50% of work days. It will require:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Proof of auto insurance
  • Ability to stay overnight as needed
  • Schedule may include hours outside of regular business hours

Location

While this is a remote position, the ideal candidate will live in Vermont. However, the Clinical Education Lead will be required to live in and work from the United States.
