The Clinical Education Lead will engage Vermont’s health care provider community to advance awareness and understanding of VITL and promote the use of VITL services. VITL is a non-profit health data sharing network that aims to create one health record for every Vermonter and makes those records available to support clinical care at the point of care, population health, and public health.
Today, clinicians and staff at hospitals, health centers, and practices around Vermont generate the health data that is shared through VITL, but some are unaware of how they and their patients could benefit from accessing the records they are contributing to. The Clinical Education Lead will shift this, using outreach and education strategies to introduce more providers to VITL services, enabling them to efficiently access information that supports the best care for Vermonters.
Candidate Requirements:
This role is designed for an individual who has worked as a clinician (whether RN, NP, MD, MSW, OT or under another clinical license) and has experience designing and delivering education, training, or outreach. The position is full-time, though a schedule of 75% time or more would be considered. It will involve travel to hospitals, health centers, and practices throughout Vermont. The role is currently grant-funded through June of 2026.
Principal Responsibilities:
Clinical Expertise & Engagement
- Serve as VITL’s primary clinical subject matter expert, supporting VITL staff in understanding provider needs to inform service design and delivery.
- Serve as a go-to resource to VITL’s clinical user community for knowledge of VITL services and health data sharing generally.
Provider Outreach and Education Program Development and Implementation
- Motivate and educate Vermont providers in the use and understanding of VITL services, incorporating knowledge of evidence-based practices to demonstrate how use of these services can promote positive patient outcomes. The services will include but may not be limited to the VITLAccess clinical portal, results delivery, and reporting and analytics.
- Identify and engage provider audiences who may benefit from greater knowledge of and engagement with VITL services. This will require direct outreach to clinical and administrative leadership at many types of health care provider organizations and associations (e.g. hospitals, health centers, independent specialty and primary care practices, provider associations and more), and building and maintaining excellent relationships across these organizations to coordinate effective and efficient education and training plans.
- Proactively plan new provider education and communication initiatives, developing a Clinical Education Roadmap of activities such as webinars, conference presentations, medical staff meetings, grand rounds, and more.
- Brainstorm and research new education strategies to engage existing and potential provider users of VITL’s services.
- Develop educational programming and content for all activities on the Clinical Education Roadmap. Additionally, develop educational procedures and materials to be used by other VITL staff in onboarding and training activities.

Provider Education Content Development
- Lead the development of content for communications and education materials that target provider audiences.
- Collaborate with team members including communications staff and contractors to review, provide feedback, and approve communications and collateral prior to release to clinicians.
Monitor Provider Adoption and Invite Feedback
- Participate with the Product Manager and Support Team members on work to monitor adoption and utilization of VITL services, and user satisfaction.
- Help develop mechanisms for VITL staff to better understanding provider needs and opportunities for VITL to meet those needs, whether through different/expanded use of current services or new offerings. Mechanisms might include surveys, interviews, focus groups, clinical advisor or ambassador programming, and more.
VITL Project Support
- Work closely with the Director of Client Engagement, the Product Manager, and other teams at VITL in the procurement or development, and rollout of new services as needed.
- Lead the education and training component of projects by partnering with project sponsors and Project Managers.
