Vermont Information Technology Leaders, Inc. (VITL), the independent non-profit organization that built and operates Vermont’s statewide health information network, is seeking candidates for the following positions:
Database Administrator-Analyst
VITL is looking to hire a Database Administrator-Analyst to support our SQL Server Enterprise DBMS and our growing need for analytics. This is a hybrid role of core database administration and data modeling and analytics functions. The role is responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing VITL with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company.
This is a full time permanent position. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, mathematics or other related discipline is required. This is a senior position requiring 5 or more years of experience in software development, systems implementation, or other technical field. Experience in health care is highly desirable.

Director, Marketing and Business Development
VITL is seeking an experienced executive to lead its sales, marketing and business development activities. This position will have responsibility for recommending and implementing strategies designed to promote and grow VITL’s technology services, as well as work closely with operational leadership to measure and improve customer service.
This position will report to the CEO and have responsibility for networking, communicating and promoting VITL’s activities, value and role in health care reform to a broad range of stakeholders across Vermont. Additionally, the position will work closely with VITL’s leadership team to identify, research and develop new technology-based business opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in healthcare technology with increasing awareness, improving customer satisfaction and developing new services in a rapidly changing environment. Candidates will possess experience working with provider organizations to identify ways that technology can be leveraged to improve care delivery and writing business plans to bring new services to market.
A business degree is required, MBA or equivalent preferred. Candidates must have five years or more experience in sales, marketing, or business development, with a successful history of launching new products or services.

Application Analyst
The Application Analyst will provide application support for information systems, include maintaining data integrity in the statewide clinical data repository supporting the provider portal, using analytical and reporting tools. Responsibilities include working with end-users, vendors and internal information systems technical staff to provide insights into the business/clinical processes to facilitate cohesive integration of software application from vendors or internally developed information systems. Incumbents will work with clinical and business counterparts for vendor implementation, and internal information systems development in support of departmental needs. The candidate will have:
- Analyst Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Business Area/Healthcare Knowledge
- Organizational Skills
- Project Management skills
The preferred applicant will have five or more years of analyst experience, preferably in a health care setting; experience in reporting and analytical applications, and knowledge of Master Person Indexes (MPI).
Project Managers
Project managers work closely with electronic health records system vendors, health care organizations, and other members of VITL’s Operations Team to coordinate interface deployment projects. One position is full-time permanent, the other is full-time temporary for six months. Successful candidates will have:
- The ability to remove roadblocks through creative problem solving, negotiate with others or mediate conflicts.
- Ability to work independently with little direction on multiple complex projects
- Familiar with PMI concepts
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Five or more years of project management experience is required, preferably in a health care setting. PMP certification and previous experience with computer interface development are desirable.
eHealth Specialists
An eHealth systems specialist will interact with medical organizations to assist providers with implementing electronic health records and achieving meaningful use incentives. The specialist will also educate practices to fulfill Vermont’s patient consent program requirements and to improve data quality for enhanced patient care. A background working in a health care setting is required, with experience using EHR systems and health information technology highly desired. VITL is seeking candidates to cover Vermont regions, effectively work from home and travel in-state to medical organizations. A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle are required.
